Below are step-by-step instructions on how to backup a QuickBooks file and upload it to our server. Please note that any file on your computer (spreadsheets, Word docs, etc.) can be transferred via the ftp in the same manner by simply copying and pasting into the FTP window as described below.
Upload your Quickbooks File
1. Create a backup of your QuickBooks file and save it to your local hard drive (File -> Backup).
Make sure that you place the backup file somewhere that it will be easy to find (i.e., the Desktop) by using the browse button.
2. Connect to the TJS FTP using the link provided to you in your FTP confirmation email, or by clicking here and entering your username and password when prompted
3. Right click on the backup file you created and select Copy.
4. Right-Click on the FTP window and select Paste.
5. Your file will begin to upload to our server. A progress bar will be displayed showing the copy progress. Please note that this process can range from a few seconds to several hours depending upon your connection speed (dialup vs. DSL) and the size of the file that you are uploading. When this box disappears, you should see the file appear in your FTP folder. If an error occurs (probably due to an internet connection problem), the copy and paste process must be reperformed.
6. Do not delete the backup file from your local hard drive until you have confirmed that the transfer was completed successfully.
7. Email your client service representative to let them know that your file has been uploaded. When the file is to be returned to you, we will notify you that the file is ready. You will then log into the FTP as described above, copy and paste the file from the FTP to your local drive, and restore the backup as you normally would.
If you need assistance with this process please contact our office at 478-272-2030.
